1. RON ENGLISH

   

   American painter, born in 1959, in Chicago.
   He is a rebel artist who uses images of popular culture to criticise our society of mass-consumption.
   He created the poster, ‘Abraham Obama’, a montage of Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.

   Expert’s opinion Funny, vibrant, and at the same time ironic and liberating.

2. ROBERT COMBAS

   

   French painter and sculptor, born in Lyon in 1957.
   He is best known for the Figuration Libre movement which depicts the human figure, often in wild and orgiastic settings. His work is highly colourful and takes inspiration primitive and street art. He is the only French artist to appear every year in the top 500 contemporary artists quoted by ArtPrice.

3. MAURO CORDA

   

   French sculptor of Italian origin, born in Lourdes in 1960.
   Works in bronze, aluminium, iron, stainless steel, and glass.

4. ANNIE LEIBOVITZ

   

   Anna-Lou Leibovitz in 1949 is an American portrait photographer best known for her engaging portraits, particularly of celebrities, which often feature subjects in intimate settings and poses. The Library of Congress declared her a Living Legend.

5. JEFF KOONS

   

   Jeffrey Lynn Koons born in 1955 is an American artist recognized for his work dealing with popular culture and his sculptures depicting everyday objects, including balloon animals produced in stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces.
   His works have sold for substantial sums, including at least two record auction prices for a work by a living artist: US$58.4 million for Balloon Dog in 2013 and US$91.1 million for Rabbit in 2019.

6. PATRICK RUBINSTEIN

   

   Patrick Rubinstein is a French artist, born in Paris in 1960.
   He was fascinated by Op Art and the cinema and sought ways to combine the two. He is the inventor of Kinetic Pop Art which blends the figurative with the optical. His work is full of references to popular culture.

   WORK OFFERED FOR SALE BY ORTAL⁵ ‘Ahava’, which means ‘love’ in Hebrew.

   Expert’s opinion A vivid declaration of love in all its dimensions, both private and public.

7. ELLEN VON UNWERTH

   

   Born in Germany in 1954, Ellen is a photographer whose images frequently combine the erotic, with fashion and glamour.
   She has photographed top models (Claudia Schieffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss), as well as stars from the music business (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Vanessa Paradis). She is a regular contributor to the French review Egoiste.

   Expert’s opinion A sexual energy emanates from all her work.

8. NIKKI DE SAINT-PHALLE

   

   Niki de Saint Phalle born in 1930 was a French-American sculptor, painter, filmmaker, and author of colorful hand-illustrated books.
   Widely noted as one of the few female monumental sculptors, Saint Phalle was also known for her social commitment and work.
